Busy 24 hours for the Lewes Fire Deparment
Fri, Jan 9, 2015

Friday was a busy day for the Lewes Fire Department. 9 Fire calls were handled including assisting all 3 of our neighboring departments on working alarms. Station 1 was staffed with 9 members from duty crew A the previous day. The day began with an automatic fire alarm at 0600. This was followed by a call to assist Milton with a working alarm. Engine 82-5 assisted with water supply and fire suppression while Engine 82-1 established a draft at Reynolds pond and filled several engines involved in the water shuttle. 82-9 provided standby coverage for Station 85. After crews returned to Lewes and placed apparatus and equipment back in service, 7 members kept an engine crew in service. After barely getting in a much needed breakfast/lunch, Lewes Fire Department was dispatched to assist Indian River Vol. FIre Company on a working house Fire in Oak Orchard. Engine 82-5, 82-9, Ladder 82, and Rescue 82 all responded. Crews assisted with fire suppression and overhaul before returning back to Lewes. The rest of the afternoon/evening brought more calls for service including a CO alarm, chimney fire and several automatic fire alarms. At 0415 we were alerted to assist Rehoboth Beach Vol. Fire Co. on a working fire in west Rehoboth. Engines 82-5, 82-1, and 82-9 responded and assisted with fire suppression, overhaul and water supply. More pictures to come.
