The Lewes Fire Department regrets to announce the passing of Life Member Ralton Dennis. Ambulance Captain and Fire Police Emeritus Ralton H. Dennis passed away on Wednesday December 21st, 2011. Ralton was a 57 year Life Member of the Lewes Fire Department originally joining the department in January of 1949. Ralton served the department as the Ambulance Captain for 21 years from 1965 to 1984 and again in 1986. He was named Ambulance Captain Emeritus by our membership in 1987 and continued to serve for several more years as an Ambulance Lieutenant. Ralton was appointed to the post of Fire Police in 1988 and served as a Fire Police Officer until 2006. He was named Fire Police Emeritus by our membership in 2006. Ralton was added to the Del-Mar-Va Fireman's Historical Foundation Hall of Fame in 1994 and awarded the Lewes Fire Department Louis A. Rickards President's Award in 2004. He was honored as a 50 Year Life Member of the Lewes Fire Department in 2003. Ralton continued to respond to fire alarms until 2010 and was the Department's # 1 Top Responder in 2008 attending 444 out of 597 fire alarms. Ralton was again honored as a Department Top Responder in 2009 for attending 277 fire alarms. Services are as follows.
