On Tuesday July 5th., the Lewes Fire Department, Inc. awarded 2 scholarships to Lewes Fire Department Members. The first scholarship presented was the T.A. Shipley Scholarship and was awarded to Joe Esposito. The scholarship was awarded in memory of deceased member Robert Fisher Jr. Joe will be attending the University of Delaware in the fall as a freshman. The second scholarship presented was the Steven R. Jones Scholarship and was awarded to Terrence Bayko. Terrence will be attending Eastern Kentucky University in the fall as a freshman. Both scholarships presented were in the amount of $1000.00 and family members from both Joe and Terrence's families were present to celebrate the awards. Family members from the Fisher and Jones families were also able to join us during the presentations. Following the scholarship presentations, Bob, Pat, and Chuck Jones were awarded Honorary Memberships to the Lewes Fire Department for providing the idea and funds for the Steven R. Jones Scholarship. Steve Jones served the Lewes Fire Department for nearly 15 years starting as a Junior Member in 1992 before his untimely passing several years ago.
