The Lewes Fire Department, Inc. recently placed in service a new 2010 Road Rescue Ultramedic III Ambulance on a 2009 GMC C-4500 Chassis. The new unit was purchased from general funds with assistance from the Greater Lewes Foundation, in the amount of $750.00, and is the first new ambulance purchased by the Lewes Fire Department, Inc since 2001. The Lewes Fire Department, Inc. answers nearly 3000 EMS emergencies annually, and operates 3 ambulances. The new unit is now assigned to Station 1 in Lewes and is equipped with many modern safety features including a ZICO O2 lift and 4 - 5 point harness seats. The total cost of the new unit is just over $175,000.00.
