On Friday July 20, 2012, at approximately 1020 hours, the Lewes Fire Department and Paramedic 104 were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on John J. Williams Highway ITAO of Maplewood. Fire Chief Wally Evans responded to the scene and assumed command. Upon his arrival, it was determined to be a two vehicle head on collision with one patient trapped. A second patient was standing on the side of the road. Vehicle stablization and extrication was performed. Once the driver's side door was removed, a dash roll was then performed in order to free the patient from the vehicle. A total of two patients were transported ALS to Beebe Medical Center. Crews continued to stablize the remaining vehicle, performed fluid and debris clean up and fire police performed traffic control. The incident was placed under control at approximately 1108 hours and all units returned by 1123 hours.

Units on scene: Fire Chief's utility vehicle, Rescue 82, Ambulances A & D 82, Medic 104, DSFP and DSP.
