We are closing the firehouses to the public.  Signs advising no visitors should be posted in all stations.

Our crews/members should be disinfecting all equipment, door handles and used hard surfaces regularly.
We will limit contact with the public on calls.
Maintain safe distances and not make physical contact unless necessary.
Try not send entire crews into a building or area, to limit exposure.

Please keep in mind that there are things every Delawarean can do to stay healthy;
Wash your hands.
Cover your cough.
Stay home from work or school if you are sick.
Maintain social distancing.
Limit your interaction with large groups of people especially important for at-risk populations.

The one thing that will not be shut down is the volunteer fire service responding to emergencies in the State of Delaware.  As volunteers, we have chosen to protect our own, our communities, as well as our fire districts.  The volunteer fire service personnel will focus on taking a proactive and preventative approach to keep communities safe.
While undertaking precautions and many other safety measures with respect to the pandemic coronavirus - we will respond as needed within our fire district.

It is not an easy or popular decision to make these decisions; however, Lewes FD believes this is an imperative decision in order to promote safety and well-being of our members, community residents and fire district.

Stay Safe Everyone
