Serious Accident on Lewes-Georgetown Highway

At approximately 8:00 AM on August 6, 2019, Lewes FD was alerted to a motor vehicle accident with entrapment near the intersection of Lewes-Georgetown Highway and Josephs Rd. Upon arrival, units found two vehicles involved, a van and a box-type delivery truck. The driver of the box-truck was out and walking around, but the driver of the van was heavy pinned in his vehicle, and was suffering severe injuries. Command 82 requested assistance from Milton FD (85), and crews from LFD and Milton worked together to free the victim only 15 minutes after the arrival of the first unit on the scene. He was transported to Beebe by ground with severe injuries. Units from LFD on the scene included Engines 82-1 and 82-2; Rescue 82; Ambulances A-82, B-82, D-82, and E-82; Command 82-8; and Fire Police. Also on the scene were units from Milton FD (85) and SCEMS. Delaware Trooper 2 was dispatched but not utilized.
