House Fire
Sat, Jul 7, 2018

At approximately 10:45 PM on Saturday, July 7, 2018, Lewes Fire Department was dispatched to a fire alarm sounding in a private residence located on Ward Road, just off Cedar Grove Road. While enroute to the scene, EOC upgraded the call to a working structure fire. First arriving units found heavy fire showing from the C/D corner of the home, with fire extending through the attic. This area did not have fire hydrants, so water supply became an immediate concern. Firefighters made an aggresive attack on the fire, and were able to confine the fire pirmarily to the area involved upon arrival. There were no injuries reported, although one pet was later found deceased. Responding units from LFD included Engines 82-1, 82-5, and 82-9; Ladder 82; Rescue 82; Tanker 82; Ambulances D-82 and E-82; and Command 82. Assisting with the incident at the scene or with cover-ups were Rehoboth Beach (86), Millsboro (83), Indian River (80), Milton (85), Slaughter Beach (89), Georgetown (77), and Bethany Beach (70).
