Lewes Fire responds to reported house fire
Fri, Jan 30, 2015

Yesterday, January 29th, at 1524hrs the Lewes, Rehoboth, and Indian River Fire Departments were dispatched to the Angola area for a reported house fire. 82-8 with Safety Officer Buckaloo responded and arrived on scene around the same time that Assistant Chief Pignataro also arrived. Safety Officer Buckaloo then assumed the command role and reported a two story dwelling with smoke evident. Engine 82-5 and Ladder82 made an immediate response within two minutes of initial dispatch. Engine 82-5 arrived on scene and pulled a single inch and three quarter crosslay to the kitchen area. Assistant Chief Pignataro, with assistance from Engine 82-5's officer (LT Bayko) extinguished a small kitchen fire that had spread to the cabinet area with water on hand in the residence. The attack line was left in place for protection during overhaul. Ladder82's crew conducted a secondary search and checked for extention on the second floor as well as began ventilation. Command held the reponse to Lewes units and Indian River stood by at our Angola sub-station until units went in service. One person was transported to BMC and damage was limited to the kitchen area.
