Vehicle rollover with entrapment - ITAO 356 Pilottown Road, Lewes

On Thursday November 15, 2012, at approximately 0625 hours, the Lewes Fire Department along with paramedics was dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving rollover and entrapment. Engine 82-5 was returning from a cover up assignment in Bethany Beach and was just entering the Lewes Fire District when the call was dispatched. Upon the arrival of Engine 82-5, Fire Chief Wally Evans confirmed the report of a single vehicle involving a rollover with a pole snapped in half. Subject was still inside the vehicle. Crews performed stablization on the vehicle. Pilottown Road at this time was shut down to all traffic. Crew members opened up the sun roof to the vehicle, and was able to remove the patient from the vehicle. Patient was packaged and transported ALS to Beebe Medical Center.  The Lewes Board of Public Works arrived on scene and secured the power lines. Crews performed debris and fluid clean up. Engine 82-5 remained on scene until approximately 0732 hours when the vehicle was uprighted. Fire Police remained on scene assisting the Lewes Police Department and Lewes Board of Public Works while the pole was replaced.

 

Units on scene: Engine 82-5, Rescue 82, Ambulance C-82, EMS 100 and Medic 104, DSFP, and LPD. Engine 82-9 was returned prior to their arrival on scene.
