Today, at 1210, the Lewes Fire Department was alerted to a reported dwelling fire in the City of Rehoboth Beach along with the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company and the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company. Fire Marshal 16 arrived on scene to find a two story single family home with fire showing. Ladder82, Engine 82-4, Engine 82-9, and Engine 82-3 responded. Upon arrival, crews from Ladder82 went to the roof to perform ventilation. The crew of 82-4 were assigned fire suppression on division 1. While working in tandem with a Rehoboth Beach hoseline, one firefighter fell partially through the floor. After he was quickly extricated crews backed out to regroup and then attacked the blaze from other openings and entry ways. Crews performed fire suppression in the basement division and division 2 until command deemed the use of tower mounted master streams necessary. After flowing from these for some time, crews then returned to the interior and finished overhauling the home. Sussex County EMS, Millville Volunteer Fire Company, and Indian River Volunteer Fire Company also were called to the scene.
