On Saturday August 4, 2012, at approximately 1638 hours, the Lewes Fire Department along with paramedics were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at 5 points on Coastal Highway. While Engine 82-5 was responding with OIC Fire Chief Wally Evans, EOC advised that an ambulance was involved in the collision with another vehicle. Upon arrival of OIC Chief Evans, he assumed Command and requested a third ambulance to the scene. The patient that was aboard Ambulance A-91 had already been transported ALS by D-82 to Beebe. One other patient was transported ALS to Beebe on board A-82 and two additional patients were transported BLS to Beebe on board C-82. Units staged until the DSP FAIR Team concluded their investigation. Crews then performed debris and fluid clean up along with traffic control. North bound traffic was reduced to one lane. All fire apparatus returned at approximately 1824 hours. Fire Police remained on scene assisting DSP until approximately 1837 hours.
