The Lewes Fire Dept., Inc. provides emergency medical services for the Town of Lewes and surrounding areas, including Cape Henlopen State Park, Cape May - Lewes Ferry.
We currently staff our units with 6 career NREMT-Bs who work in shifts of two during the day and one at night. The night shift is complimented with volunteer NREMT-Bs. We will be changing this schedule in the near future to a minimum of 8 career NREMT-B which will provide career staff for EMS 24/7. Additional emergencies will then be handled by our volunteers. This change is driven by the enormous growth in our area and rising number of EMS calls.
